Hi!
I’m terrified by birds.
I thought I’d put up this picture to show that I know exactly what it’s like to feel scared, stressed, and anxious but keep a smile on your face for those around you (I was on holiday with my partner when this photo was taken).
I originally trained in Forensic (criminal) Psychology, then completed various therapist practitioner courses in the Health and Wellness sector. I know that one of the main reasons people don’t seek online therapy is the fear that the therapist will think they are ‘weird’ or ‘just wasting [their] time’
…I’ve studied really deviant behaviour so I’m very unlikely to think you’re ‘weird’; and, definitely, nothing is a waste of time if it helps people!
“I know exactly what it’s like being unsure of ‘therapy’. I also know that the system isn’t set up to provide appropriate emotional support for everyone. I’ve needed immediate support and had a 6 month wait. I’ve also been provided CBT when I knew I actually needed bereavement counselling. I didn’t protest, despite having studied psychology, because I was worried it was the only therapy available and ‘something is better than nothing’.
It shouldn’t be this way”
